Job Description

HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation has the following vacancy for its office located in Yabello. The office in Yabello provides unified & pooled finance, administration and logistic supports to the team and partners in the implementation of RLP project entitled Regional Livestock programme (RLP)- will leverage growing consumer demand for animal source foods and the associated rise in livestock production and trade in ASAL economies, with the aims of increasing the incomes of poor agro-pastoralist and pastoralist households and economically empowering peri-urban and rural women engaged in the livestock sector and other upcoming projects.

Main Task:

  • Responsible for processing bank and cash transactions;
  • review and record settlement of working advances;
  • process prime recording vouchers;
  • review and ensure full documentation of settlement documents;
  • follow up settlement of advances; e
  • nsure timely settlement of taxes,
  • perform posting transactions to the computerised accounting package;
  • carry out regular reconciliation of accounts;
  • Assurance of timely finance reporting in line with donor, internal and government requirements meeting high quality standard and perform other  relevant financial tasks;
  • Review monthly financial reports of partners, check against supporting documents for their accuracy, completeness, relevance, validate for settlement, and integrate in to the accounting system; and assist in preparation of  quarterly fund reconciliations.

Job Requirements

Qualification, Experience and essential skills:

  • BA degree in accounting or related disciplines;
  • A minimum of 6 years of highly relevant working experiences in handling accounting and finance tasks, preferable in not-for-profit organization;
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of internal control systems and procedures;
  • Skillful in processing accounting transactions and managing accounting packages;
  • Knowledge of  tax and other laws relevant to NGO operations;
  • Excellent understanding and practical application of grant management skills;
  • Possess essential social competencies: positive attitude; team building and support;
  • Excellent communication skill; ability to manage stress and meet expectations;
  • Ability to deliver task on deadline; high level of accuracy; attention to details;
  • Accountability and responsiveness within areas of responsibilities and  open for learning and taking initiatives;
  • Ability to perform independently and interdependently; and
  • Advanced skill in using Ms-office applications (Ms-Excel, Word, and Access), and good command of English.
