Accounting Operations

  • Ensure the financial and accounting integrity of World Vision Ethiopia.
  • Process inter-company transactions in accordance with transfer agreements ,(Funding to CPO’s and APs as well as Sub-Grantees)
  • Facilitate local travel and business advance payment requests and pass the necessary entries.
  • Follow up for the settlement of all local travel and business advances within due date
  • Facilitate international travel requests and pass the necessary journal entries
  • Follow up for the settlement of all international travel and personal advances within due date.
  • Check and verify advance settlement documents for all local and international travel and business advances, journalize and summarize transactions by cost center and send hold data for posting to Accounts Manager.
  • Facilitate Medical settlement and pass the necessary journal entries.
  • Handle disbursement activities like all head office level goods and service purchases as per the partnership financial manual and internal financial policies and guidelines.
  • Follow-up and timely payment/e-payment of withholding tax based on ERCA guideline and website.
  • Follow-Up long outstanding   advances and payables on monthly basis and keep records up-to-date.
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to the Accounts Manager, on accounting issues.

Apply World Vision Ethiopia’s accounting systems, processes, and controls. Apply current policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of World Vision Ethiopia’s accounting policies.

Ensure accurate external reporting.

  • Financial and Accounting Reports

Provide accurate and timely monthly financial reports. Ensure all department and vendors accounts are correctly stated. Provide regulatory reports, as needed.

Reconcile World Vision Ethiopia bank accounts.

  • Financial Risk Management

Apply the organization’s overall accounting policies. Implement World Vision Ethiopia’s accounting policies, procedures, and controls. Prepare auditable month-end supporting account reconciliations and schedules. Prepare local statutory and tax reporting. Collaborate with audit staff on annual independent audits.

Comply with World Vision Ethiopia’s accounting policies and procedures, both written and unwritten, and report any instances of non-compliance.

 

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • For BA degree 4 years and for Master’s 2 years of working experience.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

Essential

  • Relevant degree (MA/Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business administration or related field; etc.)

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree in a related field

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to provide support and training to staff and partners on donor financial requirements
  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and government/donor regulations and requirements
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and detail orientation, even under time pressure
  • Proven interpersonal, representation, networking, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to build trust and relationships to work productively and to inspire teamwork even without line management authority
  • Able to work in a cross-cultural environment with a multi-national staff
  • Ability to identify risks and issues and escalate them in a timely manner for proper resolution
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and work in a context of people with various ethnic and religious backgrounds
  • Understanding of World Vision’s standards and commitment to World Vision’s core values and mission statement, including participation in regular devotions. Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context.
