Finance Associate (Banking & Cash Management) – Ethiopia

About the Opportunity
The Banking & Cash Finance Associate is accountable for managing company bank accounts and cash, and requires the highest level of integrity and responsibility. This person is responsible for ensuring the funds transferred out accurately reflect the authorized payments as well as maintains relationships with banking institutions, in partnership with the Treasury & Loan Manager. This position will also be cross-trained with other areas in the Finance Department, and has specific responsibilities.
Responsibilities
This role has specific responsibilities of:
Banking (40% time)
- Process supplier payments and funds to staff timely and ensure they are properly supported
- Petty cash management
- Mobile money management
- Initiate payment requests in company accounting software and banking
- Monthly bank and accounts reconciliation, supporting monthly closing process
- Maintain banking relationships and banking hygiene, including monthly bank statements, raising issues to the bank, overseeing accurate access to bank accounts based on companies’ approval matrix
- Follow all internal control procedures to prevent fraud
- Proper recording of all banking, mobile money, and other wallet transactions
Project Cash Management (40% Time)
- Post all petty cash transactions
- Ensure petty cash replenishment is timely; always have cash available
- Maintain petty cash float and petty cash transactions at the approved limit
- Monitor operational advances, petty cash accounts and prepayments;
- Support review of requests for petty cash accounts and operational advances;
- Review reconciliations and settlements of petty cash & operational advances;
- Respond to requests from offices related to cash management;
- Track operational advances, petty cash, and the related procedures
- Assist in the review and vetting of vendor information before payment request
General Finance Administration (20% time)
- Any additional bookkeeping: collecting, organizing and recording of complete, accurate, and timely company financial information to facilitate day to day operations
- Review general ledger transactions on a monthly basis to ensure completeness, cut off, occurrence and accuracy of recorded transactions
- Ensure transactions are accounted for in accordance company’s policies and IFRS
- Ensure tax compliance with respect to accurate billing and payments
- Provide support to finance colleagues and other company management as required.
- Clerical duties, including filing, and photocopying
- Collecting supporting documents from staff and suppliers
- Maintain accurate records in Odoo
- Other duties as may be required
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates will have both technical skills in finance, plus alignment with company vision and values. Successful candidates must navigate fast-paced environments with enthusiasm and incredible attention to details. Minimum qualifications include:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIFA or CFA) will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in finance in Cash and Bank transactions
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-point presentation
- Analytical skills with the ability to pay attention to details
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with the highest level of personal integrity
