Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the wellbeing of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focuses on save live, building resilience and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.

DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent Finance Assistant based in Afar, Berhale.

Over all responsibilities of the Job

The Field Office Finance and Admin Officer is responsible for accounting, recording, and reporting function of the field office. He/ She also reviews the accounting documents and reports of he is in charge. He/she also responsible for HR and Admin functions of the field office.

Purpose

• Maintain and update field office cashbook on daily basis and have up-to-date petty cash balances.
• Ensure withholding tax receipt is issued whenever tax is withheld from purchase of goods and services.
• Ensure that all transactions adhere to DCA financial guidelines and control systems.
• Ensure all financial documents are scanned & properly filed and handled.

Engagement 

• Effect cash payments for only duly authorized payment requests.
• Follow-up cash advances and ensure they are duly refunded and/ or settled.
• Perform coding and record cash transactions in the daily cash book.
• Maintain proper records management for all administrative correspondence & records.
• Assist in keeping and updating annual leave tracking sheets of all field office staff.
• Make sure offices, guesthouses, premises & other facilities are clean & ready to always use.

Make sure all communication systems & equipment are functioning properly, and they are utilized in economical ways.

Delivery 

• Make sure mini warehouse in the most operational way for receipt, storage, stocking, preparation and dispatch of the goods; optimize permanently the space for the stock; stock rotation, etc.
• Monitor maintaining & recording of goods in accordance with DCA policies,
• Make sure periodic recording/updating stock cards, issuance of goods, proper dispatch of the items.
• Review of all documentation regarding each receipt of goods and ensure the archiving of the forms; properly fill, sign and update stock cards and stock report accordingly.

Job Requirements                                                             

• Diploma in Accounting and Finance or other related fields
• 2 years’ experience in the area of expertise.

Technical & other Skills

• Proven ability to provide support, to financial and non-financial managers and colleagues.
• Excellent understanding on Ethiopian laws on taxation, pension, labor, civil society, and financial reporting standards
• Ability to work with accounting software.
• Analytical skill in interpretation of financial reports, making analysis on investment options.
• Ability to optimize, forecast and plan cash resources.
• Communication and reporting skills (verbal and in writing)
• Ability to work to deadlines with good prioritization and time management skills.
