Medical Team International looking for qualified applicant for the following position:

JOB SUMMARY 

The Field Coordinator manages the MTI field office in Ethiopia. This position is responsible for managing support functions, compliance, security/safety and field level external relationships including representation. The Field Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of programs and activities in the field including support for all administrative procedures. This position will liaise with internal and external partners to ensure coordination of MTI activities. Ensures staff and programs adhere to MTI and donor policies and procedures. This position reports to the Regional Response Coordinator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Field office management and staff management to ensure that activities and staff adhere to MTI and donor policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Logistics Department to assure resources are in place for operations to function smoothly, including but not limited to registers, medical forms, small machines, etc.
  • Coordinate with Finance Department to ensure budgets are managed appropriately and donor guidelines are complied with.
  • Coordinate with HR Department to ensure compliance with all MTI policies and proper management of field staff.
  • Coordinate with Programs and Technical staff to ensure that MTI programs activities are implemented according to a high standard of quality field project sites. This includes regular visits and oversight of project implementation sites.
  • Review duty rosters and conduct spot checks on staff attendance
  • Coordinate cooperation between field teams, including the transfer of staff and resources
  • Ensure that trainings are regularly conducted to build and maintain MTI staff capacity
  • Support In-Charges in handling disciplinary issues as needed
  • Support weekly departmental meetings and monthly general staff meeting
  • Represent MTI during local UN Cluster and Governmental coordination meetings including sector working group, interagency, security, etc.
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders regarding security management and inform the Regional Response Coordinator accordingly
  • Oversee field office safety and security including the training of staff, monitoring of the security situation, enforcement of SSI and maintaining the constant communication between the field teams, field office and country office.
  • Compile weekly and monthly report on activities conducted
  • Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas. The employee may be required to travel to areas where there are potential health hazards and risks, limited hygiene facilities, extreme hot or cold weather, and very basic living conditions.

Place of Work: Gondar Field Office

Required Number: 1(One)

Work Days & Hours: Monday-Friday, 40-48 hours/week, occasional weekends and public holidays

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Management or related field is required
  • Postgraduate training in Public Administration and Management or Monitoring & Evaluation or a related field is an added advantage

EXPERIENCE       

  • 3 years of field experience in a humanitarian organization is required
  • 2 years of project management experience is required
  • Experience with an international NGO or UN agency is required

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of humanitarian operations and project cycle management
  • Sound knowledge of MTI’s HR and procurement policies and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of donor activity requirements and reporting

SKILLS

  • Skilled in project cycle management and coordinating logistics
  • Skilled in capacity building and mobilizing staff to achieve a common goal
  • Skilled in relationship building with the ability to liaise with multiple partner agencies
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

ABILITIES

  • Excellent proficiency in English language (written and spoken)
  • Excellent proficiency in the local language of the field location (written and spoken)
  • Keen interest to mentor others
  • Ability to travel to health facilities frequently and at times upon short notice
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative to plan, organize and follow through to meet deadlines
  • Committed to high ethical standards
  • Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
