Tearfund Ethiopia is looking for a competent and experienced field Coordinator in Konso  Zone, South Ethiopia Regional State, Ethiopia. The Field coordinator (FC) is responsible for Planning,  implementing, monitoring, delivering and evaluating the Digital Anticipatory Response (DAR) project. The FC should first and foremost coordinate and build a strong relationship with the government, insurance and technological companies.

The coordinator will be responsible for the outcomes of the DAR project ensuring target communities are able to use finances from their cooperative and saving groups to take anticipatory action in response to extreme weather warnings and sign up for parametric weather insurance products.

Key Responsibilities includes:

  • Facilitate a digital awareness creation campaign among Farmer communities on weather forecasting, financial literacy and insurance policies via voice messaging
  • Provide training to farmers on insurance product availability and access.
  • Build  networks and linkage among SHGs, Cooperatives and Financial institutions
  • Facilitate the field level communication with DAR Project Service Providers
  • Work closely  with regional weather forecasting  and disaster risk reduction (DRR) offices to prepare for the anticipatory and to ensure access to timely and accurate weather forecasting information.
  • Undertake regular monitoring and periodic tracking of project activities and provide technical support based on identified gaps.
  • Produce quality project updates, and monthly reports on a timely basis, collect success stories, best practices, and quality pictures of the project implementation.
  • Facilitate the Project midterm and endline evaluations
  • Manage human capital and Tearfund assets at Karat, Konso field office

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Three years and above experience in economics, insurance, disaster management and development works in NGOs and in an Agriculture environment.
  • Technical expertise in SHG and Cooperatives approach.
  • Experience of project monitoring at field level and quality report writing
  • Proven experience in budget management
  • Digital and Financial literacy
  • Practical experience of training team members or target groups
  • Experience in midterm and endline evaluation facilitation
  • Proven experience working for NGO

This is a national full time fixed term position based in Karat, Konso. This position is only open to Ethiopian Nationals, who must be eligible to live and work in Ethiopia.
