Positions Summary

Health Poverty Action/HPA (registered as Health Limited) is an international non-profit founded with the vision towards a global community with equality. HPA approaches inequality in health outcomes beyond medical reasons and from social justice. HPA has more than 37 years of experience in Africa and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2005. HPA has implemented several successful projects in Afar, Addis Ababa, Amhara, Benshangul-Gumuz, Oromia, SNNPR and Somali regions. Most of the projects targeted communities residing in hard-to-reach areas with interventions focusing on maternal and child health; sexual and reproductive health and rights – including harmful traditional practices; prevention and control of communicable diseases; addressing malnutrition; GBV prevention and response.

Summary:

Under the line management of the Program Coordinator or assigned person at the country office, the Field Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the research and other assigned projects in the target region, including the preparation, data collection, analysis, drafting, dissemination, and evaluation stages. The field coordinator is expected to engage with partners to promote their participation and maximize their impact. He/she also ensures an efficient and transparent use of resources required for project implementation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Project Implementation: Oversee the complete implementation of assigned research and projects in the target region, ensuring that all stages from preparation to evaluation are carried out effectively.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Coordinate the data collection process, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to analyze the collected data for meaningful insights.
  • Drafting and Dissemination: Take charge of drafting reports and other project-related documents. Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of project findings and outcomes to relevant audiences.
  • Engagement with Partners: Actively engage with project partners to foster their participation and involvement. Collaborate closely to maximize the impact and success of the projects.
  • Resource Management: Ensure efficient and transparent utilization of project resources. Manage budgets, materials, and manpower effectively to achieve project goals.
  • Coordination: Work closely with the Program Coordinator or assigned person at the country office to ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategies. Maintain clear communication channels.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish mechanisms for monitoring project progress and evaluating its outcomes. Make data-driven decisions to enhance project performance and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders including community members, government officials, and other relevant entities to build strong partnerships and ensure project success.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that project activities adhere to high quality standards. Implement best practices and continuously assess and improve project implementation.
  • Reporting: Provide regular and comprehensive reports to the Program Coordinator or assigned person. Keep them informed about project status, challenges, and achievements.

Terms of EmploymentEight months contract with the possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance appraisal and availability of funding.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

  • MPH, MSC or higher degree in health or health-related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical, analytical, conceptual, interpersonal, and partnership management skills

Additional skills that increase the competitiveness of the applicant:

  • Ability to work in a team environment within and outside an organization.
  • Experience or exposure related to research focused on outbreaks such as measles.
  • Contribution in publications in different scientific journals
  • Competence in project management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships/partnership.
