About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of Currently the Society has 14 regional branches, 40 zonal branches, 180 woreda branches, and 5,871 Kebele Red Cross Committees.
ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.

Under the general direction and guidance of the Human Resource and Facility Management department director, Plans, coordinates, directs and supervises the facility management activities of the Society; Evaluates the effectiveness of the facility management systems of the Society and initiates necessary improvements as appropriate; Develops and employs a systematic mechanism to exercise efficient use and inspection of office, office equipment, utilities, facilities of the Society; Studies, devises and introduces efficient ways of providing facility service to the National Head Quarters’ work units and continuously looks for ways of improving users’ satisfaction level; Ensures proper and timely provision of office equipment, janitorial supplies, office supplies, uniforms and overalls for entitled employees; Ensures proper maintenance office equipment’s, utilities etc. for continuous use and efficient operations of the Society; Coordinates and supervises such activities as office maintenance, security, telephone service and sanitary activities; Negotiates with security service, insurance and utility providers and manages the services accordingly; Supervises adequacy, effectiveness, efficiency and bill settlement of telephone, sanitary, security, electricity, water supply and gardening services and activities; Carries out surprise visits at critical security points for checking the effectiveness of the security service; Reports any incidents to the police and concerned body in due course;
