ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Programme staff and M&E unit, within the delegated authority, the enumerators will perform tasks related to data collection and reporting to support for evidence generation activities, in order to inform sound programmatic decisions.

The Survey Enumerator will be responsible to collect household, demographic and other relevant information by going through primary and secondary sources. The Survey Enumerator will ensure that appropriate, accurate, quality data is collected for assigned Survey Projects through the effective implementation of data collection processes as directed by the survey lead team. The candidate must have knowledge in data collection methodologies, qualitative and quantitative methods, emotional maturity; control of anger; empathetic attitude; stable personality; and physical stamina.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Participate in the training organized for enumerators by WFP.
  2. Participate in pre-testing of questionnaire together with WFP.
  3. Provide feedback in revising the questionnaire following the pre-testing results.
  4. Conduct the field survey under the supervision of Team leads and WFP.
  5. Gather and accurately record responses on questionnaires provided.
  6. Ensure that questionnaires have been thoroughly checked and completed.
  7. Make sure that digital devices are fully charged prior to field work.
  8. Conduct household interviews on smartphones.
  9. Conduct listing of an enumeration area on smartphones;
  10. Manage household selection based on a set of procedures and methodologies;
  11. Ensure completes and accuracy of collected household data;
  12. Submit collected household data at the end of working date to the supervisor;
  13. Rectify any error that might have occurred during data collection;
  14. Report challenges encountered (if any) to supervisor on a regular basis;
  15. As part of each assignment, participate in briefings, carry out data collection, recognize and give account of problems in obtaining data, challenges encountered and provide useful feedback from field research activities.
  16. Refer any protection threats/incidents referred to partners.
  17. Report security incidents encountered.
  18. Make sure all equipment handed by WFP are properly used and handled.
  19. Responsible for security and confidentiality of the electronic data and report any possible risk of breach of data confidentiality.
  20. Work according to the Assessment’s needs
  21. Work with the team supervisor and other program staff closely

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Minimum of Diploma or BA/BSC degree in Sociology, statistics, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Education, agronomy, applied human nutrition, Public health Nutrition, agricultural extension from a Ministry of Education recognized University or Collage or any other related fields

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of responsible experience on national surveys in data collection, administrating questionnaires and conducting interviews,
  • Knowledge on digital data collection, excellent understanding in qualitative and quantitative data collection methodologies and tools

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written in English and Amharic
