About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131  District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee  and 5871 Kebele Red Cross  committees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supporting the coordination of response operations, including coordination with branch staff and volunteers, as well as at ERCS HQ.
• Expedites and facilitates the procurement process and distribution of items to the intended communities, including support to beneficiary selection/verification and registration.
• Facilitates the budget release to implementers of projects/programs as per schedule and demand; monitors performance progress and budget utilization of program/project activities.
• Facilitates the preparation and submission of project/program progress reports to donors.
• Prepares and submits monthly progress and final consolidated and project specific reports on the activities of programs/projects underway for review and finalization by immediate supervisor.
• Performs other activities related to the job as assigned by the Interim Head of DPR, including new response projects, especially those funded by DRC.

Reporting to : – ERCS Interim Head of DPR

Terms of employment:- Contract for 6 months

Place of Work:  Addis Ababa, ERCS HQ with travel to the intervention areas.

Grade:- IX

Qualification Requirements:

•  Masters /BSC in Social Science; Disaster Management; International Development; Sociology; or related fields.
• Relevant work experience 4 year for Master / 6 year for Degree holder.

Competencies/Technical Skills:

• Experience in Disaster Management or Response Operations an asset.
• Ability to operate and manage response projects, including budget and finance aspects.
• Skill on Report Writing and follow up.
• Skill in Project Management Cycle
