Job Summary

The job owner will work closely with Woreda Agriculture offices and FHE Debark AP office. His/her role will be facilitating seed, fertilizer and cash provision to targeted beneficiaries, and monitoring the progress of the project in the two Woredas where he/she gives oversight and reports to the FHE Debark AP Manager. He/she also coordinates and arrange field visits with focal persons from respective Woreda Agriculture Office to evaluate the performance of the inputs distributed and follow up the crop planted performance every time up to harvest in approved scheduled manner.

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1: Program Planning

1.     The candidate is expected to provide technical as well as administrative support for the OCHA funded project.

2.     He/she will serve as a field focal person for the project in the two woredas by supervising, monitoring and working closely with input distributors, the crop specialists and DAs of the two woreda Agriculture office and North Gondar zone.

3.     To provide technical support for farmers, DAs and fellow farmers

4.     Facilitate the joint monitoring and supervision visits and post distribution surveys as required.

Key Result # 2: Project Management

1.     The candidate is expected to provide technical as well as administrative support for the agriculture project at field level.

2.     Facilitate and support proper financial management and utilization of the project fund is properly and timely used and reported on monthly basis in close cooperation of the AP finance officer.

3.     Conduct supportive supervision and report on the implementation status of the project as required.

4.     To work with woreda office of agriculture staff to provide technical support and monitor crop performance in the two woredas.

5.     Reports immediately any fast onset hazard encountered in the project implementation woredas in relation to crops planted or on the life /health issues of project clients.

6.     Ensure or maintain sound relationships with Government Partner offices at all levels.

Key Result #3: Monitoring & Evaluation

1.         Prepare monthly monitoring plan, progress report, statistics report

2.     To monitor document processes, successes, challenges and lessons learnt in the implementation of the project in the woredas level.

3.     Submit monthly, quarterly, and final report of the project.

4.     Attend monthly, quarterly woredas level performance review meetings, and present the findings of the project.

5.     Conduct supportive supervision and report implementation status of the project as required.

⮚        Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.

⮚        In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization  and implement the recommendations.

Safety & Security Responsibility

⮚        Each FHE staff member should adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security policy of FH. Lapses in safe conduct can jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff.

⮚        Every FHE staff member has an obligation to learn and understand the security situation where they are located.

⮚        Each FHE staff member should adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security.  This includes, but not limited to, personal safety, road safety, etc.

⮚        He/she has a responsibility to become familiar to social, cultural and other associated features of their duty stations;

⮚        Abstains from inappropriate or offensive behavior that can put FHE in a difficult position, impair operations, and jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff of FHE.

⮚        All FHE staff should promote safe conducts and exercise caution in all work activities; staff should be accountable for their own personal and professional actions and conduct.

Job Requirements

 Job Level Specifications

⮚        Full agreement with FH’s Christian foundation and beliefs as expressed in The Heartbeat: our Values, Vision, and Purpose.

⮚        Experience in Emergency seed support projects.

⮚        Experience of working with zonal and woreda government stakeholders

⮚        NGO experience is a plus.

⮚        Experience in working in the respective woreda or zonal level where he/she is applying.

⮚        Good experience and skill in computers (Microsoft word, powerpoint and excel) and internet utilization.

⮚        Good presentation and interpersonal skills.

⮚        Effective team working skills

Experience

⮚        At least 3 years working experience for MSC  and 5 years for BSc.

Education/Certifications

⮚        MSs/BSc in Plant Since or related Agriculture and Food Security field

➢      Sound character, honest, trustworthy, hardworking and dependable;

➢       Good communication skills and a teachable spirit

Language

➢        Proficiency in English language and local language of the woredas where he/she will be assigned
