Job Description

The Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (CISP) (International Committee for the Development of People) is a NGO established in 1983 in Rome, Italy and currently operating in 30 countries in various parts of the world. CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986 through relief, rehabilitation and development projects. In collaboration with various local partners CISP is actively implementing projects in Ethiopia in the area of humanitarian assistance, agriculture, food security, livelihood, DRR, WASH, education, protection, nutrition and other social development projects.

CISP in partnership with Doctors with Africa (CUAMM) and (Pastoralist Concern- Local NGO) PC proposes to urgently respond and address the immediate lifesaving needs of the most vulnerable women, children, PWDs, IDPs and host communities affected by drought. The overall objective of the project is to Save lives, prevent mortality rates and reduce number of acute malnutrition and disease case through integrated multi-sectorial activities. The project is funded by UNOCHA-EHF.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The job holder is expected to involve the direct implementation of activities related to agricultural production and livestock protection;
  • Manage co-ordination of the partners and other working groups engaged in project the specific activities implementation.
  • In collaboration of other relevant officers/experts responsible for compiling monthly, quarterly and terminal reports of the project activities being under his/her responsibility per the government and donor formats and submit to the project/area coordinator
  • Prepare periodic action plan and ensure the proper implementation of the plans;
  • Prepare a database/profile of the MUSTER Project beneficiaries to monitor the progress and contribution of the project as well as detail the implementation of the project strategies in regular bases;
  • Integrate community approach, gender sensitivity, and capacity building into all activities as appropriate,
  • Coordinate/facilitate and manage the day-to-day implementation of MUSTER project activities; apply the project strategies to safe life and restore the basic assets of drought affected communities in Filtu
  • Plan and implement Livestock/livelihood activities such as: Assessments and surveillance interventions, facilitation of livestock vaccination, restocking and capacity building to the government vet clinic and animal health workers.
  • Conduct need assessments, and identify appropriate crop seeds to be planted, farming practices and support the targeted farmers for better crop production,
  • In collaboration with the government partners, organize capacity building trainings to CAHWs, Communities and other stakeholders of the project,
  • Prepare ToRs, MoUs, contracts, partnership frameworks as required for the implementation of the specific activities and submit to the project coordinator for approval;
  • Ensure feedbacks from target communities and stakeholders are regularly collected, documented and timely responded;
  • In collaboration with other staff, aggregate the routine M&E findings, interesting stories, short video clips and to be published on the donor and government periodic reports;
  • Regularly monitor potential risks, and implementation challenges and, together with all project staffs and consortium members and other partners towards proactively seeking solutions for the activities under his/her responsibilities;
  •  In collaboration with the project coordinator, helps the organization at project level, zone or and regional workshops to present the results of the project findings as a whole and of the specific studies carried out in the operational area;
  • Involve in documentation and sharing of the result findings related to printed, audiovisual and related materials including of publication of these materials on the website;
  • Take part in project evaluation and dissemination outcomes.
  •  Participate in concept note and proposal preparation for future development;
  •  Resolving cross-functional issues at project levels.
  • Perform other additional duties as per the directives of the project coordinator,

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree /BSC. degree in Livestock husbandry, agriculture, rural development, and other closely related field
  • Working knowledge in acute emergency context highly required
  •  Minimum of three years’ experience for MSC and seven years for in the humanitarian context in relevant work experience essential.
  • Open, creative, experienced, mature, responsible, flexible, culturally sensitive, energetic, interested.
  • Knowledge of donors policies and guidelines specially EHF.
  • Good stress management in tense and difficult environment.

Knowledge of local language (Somali), culture and context.

  • An applicant should be a resident and a person from the surrounding areas Fitlu, Somali Region.

Desirable: Experience of managing donor (s) funded projects or programs; NGO experience
