JOB POSITION: EDITOR

JOB SUMMARY:

with a good sense of what makes for an interesting story, and the ability to juggle all the moving parts of the publication. You will plan, coordinate and review content. The successful candidate will be able to decide which ideas should be pursued, as well as which should be dropped in order to meet quality and accuracy standards. You will provide exceptional, informative, and engaging content. In addition, you will have the following responsibilities:

Ø Source and produce ground-breaking stories about the business sector, together with reporters.

Ø Be an initiative taker with the ability to react quickly and cover breaking news and also identify trends and write features in numerous business areas.

Ø Possess a working knowledge of both public and business sectors and have the ability to write daily reports and edit, if necessary, weekly news stories for and about the economies of Ethiopia and other countries in the region.

Ø Have excellent organizational skills and meet strict deadlines and work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Ø Coordinate print publishing cycles and manage content areas.

Ø Set publication standards and establish goals and expectations.

Ø Suggest stories and generate headline ideas in alignment with the target audience’s preferences.

Ø Proofread, edit and improve stories or pieces; manage writers and reporters.

Ø Comply with media law and ethical guidelines.

Ø Meet deadlines and budget requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven working experience as an Editor.
Strong writing/editing/proofreading skills and excellent portfolio skills in English.
An eye for detail along with critical thinking.
Prioritizing and multitasking.
BA degree in Journalism or working in a media environment is preferred but not required.
