Job Description

DISTINCT FUTURE OF CVDA

CVDA has been re-registered and licensed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, Charities and Societies Agency, on November 30, 2009 as an Ethiopian Residents charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 with registration No. 0588. As per 1113/2019 proclamation also re-registered on July 30, 2019.

CVDA has permission to work at the national level however so far operates marginal parts of Benshangule Gumuz Region, Sidama region, South Ethiopia Region, Central Ethiopia region, South west Ethiopia region, Oromiya region, Afar region and Addis Ababa City administration.

It is member of Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (CORHA), Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association (UEWCA), Ethiopian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative/EEITI/, Ethiopia Civil Society Coalition for Scaling up Nutrition/ECSC-SUN/ and Afar Region Health Partner Forum.

Vision

CVDA envisions a poverty-free Ethiopia where equity and equality are ensured.

Mission:

CVDA’s mission is to enhance socioeconomic development in health, education, agriculture, environment, livelihood, and WaSH, humanitarian responses, community-based peace-building, and good governance through holistic approaches and working with the community to contribute towards sustainable development and an improved standard of living in Ethiopia.

Overall goal:

CVDA’s goal is to contribute to poverty alleviation through community-based approaches by implementing programs for development, good governance, and humanitarian responses in different regions of the country.

Job Summary

A driver’s role is multifaceted, encompassing a variety of duties and responsibilities that ensure the safe and efficient transport of goods and people.

Specific role and responsibilities

  • Checks the vehicle at the start of each working day for the general condition of the vehicle, checks coolants (oil, water) fuel level, tire conditions, etc., and drives the vehicle with maximum safety and care, and according to traffic regulations;
  • Makes sure he/she wears seatbelts and conforms to safety rules at all times;
  • Transports passengers and goods from place to place when given official instructions;
  • Picks up or meets persons according to schedules and instructions;
  • Treats all passengers with due respect and ensures the safety of all concerned;
  • Being on standby to drive at all times when on duty and maintain focus;
  • Reports accidents to supervisor promptly and complies with traffic regulations and insurance policy;
  • Carries a proper driving license with him/her at all times; renews it yearly or as required by law;
  • Reports any defective parts or malfunctions; keeps and submits report on fuel consumption, mileage, car use etc., using a logbook or other formats provided for the purpose;
  • Initiates purchase requisitions of spare parts and replacement tires ensuring their quality;
  • Signs and prints his/her name at the back of all fuel and other receipts presented by him/her for reimbursement;
  • Performs any other related duties of a permanent or temporary nature that may be assigned to him/her.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum Grade 10 complete and Certificate
  • Driving Licenses at Least Public Transport 1 ( ህዝብ አንድ መንጃ ፍቃድ)
  • Driving experience above and at least 4-5 years with clear evidence.
