Job Description

Job Summary

The Driver is responsible to provide secure and timely driving services for the organization to transport staff, visitors, documents and/or goods ensuring safety of self, passengers, SP properties and records while efficiently maintaining and managing the assigned vehicle.  Assists the fleet officer and performs a variety of logistical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

·       Safely drive designated staff to desired locations.

·       Maintain proper knowledge and enforcement of local traffic laws and regulation.

·       Ensure passengers safety at all time.

·       Assist in running administrative errands as assigned by supervisor.

·       Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean and fueled.

·       Make daily car checks to ensure that vehicle is in good running condition.

·       Keep complete and accurate logbooks on a daily basis

·       Give timely reports on state of vehicle for repairs and or any other arising matters that could impact safety

·       Facilitate travel activities, which may require nights spent out on field visits.

·       Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Education / Experience Required

·       3rd Level driver’s license

·       At least High School complete (any college diploma or certificate in auto mechanic or related field is advantageous)

·       4 years and above relevant work experience. Working in NGO / humanitarian response is highly desired.

·       All required government documentation to legally operate a vehicle in designated locations.

Language

·       Amharic

·       English

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

o   Travelling: the duty station is in North Wollo but the role requires travelling to different areas in and out of the region.
