Job Description

Digital Platform and Communication Expert (ICT Digitalization )

The WIDU project provides grants in connection with existing flows of money from private individuals within the African diaspora in Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and Sweden. The project thus redirects these flows of money into long-term investments in the businesses of relatives or friends one of six African countries (Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, Tunisia).

The central tool for the project is the online platform WIDU.africa. The platform allows members of the African diaspora in Europe, together with friends and relatives living in Ethiopia as well as five other African countries, to apply for funding for their businesses and business ideas. The focus is on small and micro businesses in the informal economy in any industry. Alongside a grant, the entrepreneurs are also accompanied by a business coach throughout the implementation period.

Digital Platform Support

  • Platform moderation: Support in moderating processes on the WIDU platform, ensuring compliance with guidelines and providing assistance to users in Ethiopia and in the diaspora.
  • Email support: Provide email support to entrepreneurs, addressing inquiries and offering guidance on using the WIDU.africa platform.
  • Digital tools implementation: Assist in developing and introducing digital tools to support project management processes of the project as well as of the WIDU businesses coaches.
  • Training and support: Provide training to entrepreneurs on using the WIDU platform and promoting best practices.
  • Platform development: Contribute user-centered platform improvement in collaboration with regional digital and platform experts.

Communication and Project Management

  • Content creation: Assist in creating, editing and publishing social media posts and informative content for entrepreneurs and diaspora members in close collaboration with both internal and external communication teams and agencies.
  • Project management: Assist in managing communication and knowledge management processes of the project, ensuring timely completion.
  • Support to WIDU entrepreneurs: Support in reviewing and selecting project applications, ensuring alignment with given criteria.
  • Knowledge management: Support the development and maintenance of knowledge management systems to capture, organize, and disseminate information effectively within the project.
  • Support to project manager: Support the project manager by providing PowerPoint presentations and reports on an ad hoc basis

About You

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Digital Marketing, Digital Media, Communication, Business Administration, or in another relevant field.
  • Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of digitalization, digital transformation, or entrepreneurship, preferably within the context of international cooperation.
  • Proven experience in moderating and maintaining digital platforms and providing technical or user support to diverse target groups.
  • Advanced familiarity with digital tools as well as digital platforms incl. Microsoft 360 and social media management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to write concise reports and produce visually effective PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong skills in research, data analysis, and knowledge management, particularly related to entrepreneurship and diaspora engagement.
  • Experience in project coordination or project management is considered an asset.

  • Soft skills: Attention to detail, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and capability to perform precise work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Knowledge: Basic knowledge and interest in entrepreneurship and the private sector.
  • Digital competencies: Strong digital proficiency is essential as the candidate will rely heavily on digital tools for effective communication, presentations, and collaborative work daily.

Personal attributes: Creativity, proactivity, strong organizational skills, and adaptability to support the project manager on an ad hoc basis and handle a variety of tasks as needed
