Job Description

This position can be based in any of the following WRI’s offices: US-DC or where state registered, WRI UK, WRI Hague, WRI Mexico, WRI Colombia, WRI Brazil, WRI Mexico, WRI Ethiopia or WRI Kenya. Applicants will be expected to hold existing work authorization for their preferred location at the time application is submitted. WRI is unable to sponsor this role for visa work authorization.

About the Program:

Communications is crucial to WRI’s ability to bring about rapid, systemic changes to the health of society and the planet. The WRI Core Communications team works to expand WRI’s reach, reputation, and impact, and oversees strategy and outreach for the Institute in support of WRI leadership, programs, centers and international offices.

Job Highlight:

In this role, you will help WRI maintain an effective external web presence, by making regular updates to WRI.org and other websites and ensuring that our content is accurate, error-free and up to date. In addition, you will help WRI communicate and engage with its global network of employees by supporting regular content updates to its internal intranet platform. You will report to the Web Producer, and collaborate with other members of the Core Communications team as well as various staff across WRI.

What will you do:

External website content and administrative support (75%):

  • Implement content updates to WRI.org and other external websites, include updating copy on existing pages or creating new pages or sections of the website using a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress
  • Compose and/or proofread web content for WRI.org and other WRI web properties
  • Conduct photo research for articles and other online content, drafting pithy and accurate captions and/or appropriate and accessible alt text
  • Collaborate with both Core Communications and other internal teams to improve the performance of WRI’s websites and content
  • Perform other related tasks as required to support the Digital Communications, Editorial or Media teams.

Intranet content and administrative support (25% time):

  • Post news items and update page content for WRI’s intranet using the Microsoft SharePoint collaboration platform
  • Assist in overall content management of WRI’s intranet – including supporting content migration efforts to an updated version of the SharePoint platform

What will you need:

  • Education: You have ideally completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field. However, candidates with diverse educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience: You should have a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience supporting website content management, and have ideally managed content updates on external or internal websites using Drupal, WordPress and/or SharePoint
  • You have a successful track record in tracking and managing multiple tasks and requests, and communicating and collaborating effectively with a large number of internal stakeholders
  • You are comfortable writing and editing online content for the web, and have a keen eye for visuals
  • Familiarity with Asana project management software and HTML a strong plus
  • Languages: Verbal and written English fluency required
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

Potential Salary:

The salary range for this position is 57,000 USD – 64,000 USD if filled by a candidate located and legally able to work in the US.  Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors. WRI offers a competitive remuneration and benefits package.
