DevOps Engineer – Addis Ababa University

We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and help build, scale, and secure our cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for automating deployment processes, ensuring system reliability, and optimizing performance for mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and document CI/CD pipelines to automate software development and deployment.
• Manage and optimize on-premise or cloud infrastructure
• Monitor system health and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
• Ensure high availability and scalability by implementing Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Enhance system security by managing IAM policies, firewalls, and security best practices.
• Develop and maintain automated infrastructure provisioning using tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with software engineers to optimize application performance and reliability.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies to detect and resolve issues proactively.
• Ensure disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies are in place.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack, etc.).
• Proficiency in administering and using Linux Systems
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash
• Strong understanding of networking, security best practices, and load balancing.
• Experience with microservices and containerized applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with On-Premise, Hybrid or Multi-Cloud environments.
• Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message brokers.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust Security Architecture.
• Experience in chaos engineering for system resilience.
