Context

The collection of data related to security incidents within UN operations has already been done by various teams, gathering timely and accurate information on events that may impact the safety of staff, assets, and beneficiaries. Given the availability of security-related data, there is an opportunity for a visualization volunteer to support the security team. By transforming raw data into accessible visual materials – such as infographics – the volunteer will experience communicating trends and patterns effectively. These visual aids are used in enabling rapid understanding and response among WFP teams.

Task description

The Volunteer would assist the team by creating visual documents – such as charts and infographics that simplify data visualisation. While helping the team, this will help the volunteer experience in effective humanitarian operations by enhancing the flow of security information. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Security Officer, WFP Ethiopia, the online volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

•Assist the security team by preparing visualisation material (e.g., charts, infographics or other) and support maintenance and updating of existing visual materials as new information becomes available.

Required experience

Required degree level: Technical/Vocation diploma [donor requirement Area of education/degree in: UX/UI, or Graphic design would be an asset

Minimum experience: 6 months

Skills and experience in: • Microsoft Office

Languages

English, Level: Native language, Required
