Job Description

DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position.

Data Clerck

Role and Responsibilities

  • Enter data from paper-based or electronic sources into databases, spreadsheets, or data management systems.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of data before entry.
  • Collect data for each constructed shelter, including GPS coordinates
  • Update and maintain databases regularly, ensuring no data is missing or duplicated
  • Support field teams in collecting data using forms, tablets, or mobile tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK).
  • Assist with printing, organizing, and distributing data collection tools.
  • Support in scanning, photocopying, or digitizing physical records as needed
  • Generate basic reports, summaries, or charts from collected data when requested.
  • Maintain well-organized physical and digital filing systems for easy access and reference.
  • Ensure timely submission of data to relevant teams or authorities

About You

Qualification BA/MA

  • Degree in Information Management, ICT, Office Administration, or related fields is an advantage

NGO/CSO Experience

  • At least 2 years

Additional Skill

  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with local building regulations and the Gambella region is a plus
