Job Description

MAJOR/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist volunteers/community mobilizers to provide outreach activities to encourage survivors to come forward and seek assistance.
  • Facilitate the Child friendly spaces/women and girls friendly centre activities including psychosocial, recreational, gardening, information sessions and skills building activities for vulnerable women and girls.
  •  Work with community structures including women’s association in the IDP sites to ensure vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV who are seeking services are referred to the women’s center for assistance.
  • Participate in GBV related outreach and community mobilization interventions including information sessions and trainings.
  • Treat survivors with respect, kindness and in a caring manner & always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Complete confidential incident intake forms and assessment forms.
  • Give survivors information about consequences of sexual assault and other forms of GBV/CP and help them identify their needs and options.
  • Develop action plans to address survivors’ physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs.
  • Provide support to survivor GBV/CP during medical examination, if requested by the survivor.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

  • Assess the needs of the community related to GBV/CP issues.
  • Help CP/GBV volunteers/community mobilizers by sensitizing of the communities’ norms and needs for counseling.
  •  Assist in identification influential members of the community who can activate change in behavior and practices.
  • Work on introducing the CP/GBV program and case management office’s location to enhance seeking of assistance for CP/GBV service.

 OTHER DUTIES

  • Compile weekly reports.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Attend training as required.
  •  Work constructively within a team.
  • Perform any other task designated by the CP/GBV officer.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in SGBV/CP human rights and protection or background in CP/GBV, human rights and/or protection  & related social science field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience for Diploma & 1 year for Degree.
  •  Any experience in social work, nursing, counselling, and exposure in humanitarian aid is preferred.
  • Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization.
  • Ability to assist in leading, training, supervising, facilitating, and motivating other CP/GBV field workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner.
  • Must be able to function effectively in complex work environment, set appropriate priorities and deal effectively with numerous simultaneous requirements.
  •  High level of administrative and organizational skill and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work, manage, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Aptitude for problem solving and decision making needed.
  • Capable of managing conflict and conflicting views
  • Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Fluency in English & Amharic (Oral and Written); other local languages are preferable.

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients is essential.
  •  Ability to lead, train, supervise, facilitate, and motivate other GBV staff in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner.
  • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills with ability to work both independently and within a team in a demanding work environment.
  •  Excellent personnel management skills, including diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills.
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience collaborating in protection, gender and human rights related activities.
