Organization Background

Since 1997, Willows International has strengthened community-level health care by improving client management systems, ensuring women receive timely, personalized information, services, referrals, and follow-ups. Through its Willows Box System, the organization has empowered over two million women and their partners to make informed decisions and access family planning and sexual reproductive health (FP/SRH) services tailored to their needs.

In Ethiopia, Willows International collaborates with the Ministry of Health to optimize the Health Extension Workers (HEWs) program in Oromia, Amhara, and Sidama regions. This includes standardizing and institutionalizing the Willows Box System to support client follow-up, counseling, and referral linkages, strengthening HEWs’ effectiveness, and promoting positive behavior change.

Consultant 1: English → Afan Oromo Consultant 2: English → Amharic

Assignment Details

Type of Contract: Individual Consultancy Location: Ethiopia

Duration: 2–3 weeks

Scope of Work: Translation of a 200-250-page training manual

Key Responsibilities

• Translate the training manual into the assigned language (Afan Oromo, Amharic) Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
• Use appropriate public health terminology Revise translations based on feedback
• Submit high-quality, proofread, and designed final documents

Qualifications

• Proven experience in translation
• Fluency in English and the target language (Afan Oromo or Amharic)
• Demonstrated experience in translating Reproductive Health and Family Planning materials is highly required
• Experience in translating health or training materials is an asset Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Must have a valid and renewed professional license
