Job Description
Purpose of the Assignment
The purposes of this assignment are:
- Implement the BRIDGE+ communication strategy by producing high-quality, audience-tailored content and ensuring its effective dissemination across appropriate channels to stakeholders, beneficiaries, partners, and the wider public.
- Ensure that all communication outputs adhere to SNV’s global communication standards, ethical guidelines, and visual identity principles.
- Develop and standardize communication templates and visual identities, ensuring consistency in branding, messaging, and layout across all project outputs.
- Coordinate and monitor all communication channels—including social media, newsletters, Livestock. africa, and partner websites—while providing periodic performance reports and analytics.
- Document and share field-level experiences and success stories, capturing the diversity, inclusion, and real-life impact of BRIDGE+ interventions to inform and inspire broader sector transformation.
- Strengthen the program’s digital and strategic visibility, including the use of emerging platforms and formats, particularly targeting smallholder, transition and commercial farmers audiences but also to position BRIDGE+ as a thought leader and catalyst within Ethiopia’s dairy value chain ecosystem.
Scope of Work
The scope of the consultancy covers the following:
- Create a content calendar and coordinate production of communication materials, estimated volume of content:
- 6 success stories
- 2 newsletters
- 10 case studies
- 5 fact sheets
- Lead the design and layout of print and digital communication materials in collaboration with SNV communications.
- Ensure all communication materials comply with SNV’s branding guidelines, tone of voice, and ethical standards, including inclusivity, respect, and representation.
- Ensure consistent lay outs and messaging across all project outputs.
- Translate materials in local languages when needed
- Document project events and field activities through photography, video, and written reports.
- 2 field visits of maximum 5 days
- Liaise with implementing partners for visibility opportunities.
- Host two sector dialogue platforms
- 1 day each
- Invites, summary decks, takeaway briefs
- Logistics (DSA participants, venue, meals) will be arranged by SNV
- Proactive communication initiatives experimenting with new communication platforms, within the broader SNV communication rules and regulations
- Monitor media coverage and provide periodic communication analytics and performance reports.
- Support capacity building of local staff or partners on communication tools and messaging, if needed.
- Guidance on photo and video taking
- Guidance on what information is needed for success stories and case studies
About You
The lead consultants of the firm and the team it deploys for this assignment should possess the following competency and academic qualifications:
- The lead consultant should possess at least a master’s degree in in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- The consultant firm shall have at least 2 years of experience, in development communication, preferably in agriculture.
- Core team should include:
- Lead communications consultant – Overall responsibility, strategic oversight, coordination.
- Content developer/writer – Responsible for drafting stories, case studies, newsletters, and briefs.
- Graphic designer/visual content specialist – Designs layouts, infographics, and templates for print and digital outputs.
- Digital communication manager – Manages digital platforms including social media and the website and oversees analytics and performance reporting.
- The lead consultant should be physically available for consultation and alignment with the BRIDGE+ team
- Proven experience in developing communication materials and managing online platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in digital media tools, graphic design software, and content management systems.
- Experience working with international development organizations or donor-funded projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
