SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia, in collaboration with the German Foundation for World Population (DSW) and the Population Health Environment Ethiopia Consortium (PHE), is implementing a peacebuilding initiative titled “Practice Peace and Live in Tranquility,” funded by the European Union. This initiative is focused on enhancing peacebuilding efforts in border communities across the Oromia (Doba, Mieso and Gumbi Bordode) , Somali (Gota Bike, Afdem and Mulu) and Afar (Haruka and Amibara) regions.
As part of this effort, the project is seeking a qualified and experienced consultant to design and facilitate two rounds of four-day training sessions on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Contingency Planning. The training will target approximately 60 participants, including 40 government officials and 20 representatives from civil society organizations, with the goal of strengthening local capacities to prevent and respond to crises in ways that promote peace and resilience in these vulnerable border areas.
The purpose of the consultancy on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Contingency Planning within the “Practice Peace and Live in Tranquility” project is to strengthen the capacity of government officials and civil society actors in border communities across Oromia, Somali, and Afar regions to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to crises in ways that promote peace and resilience.
Key objectives of the consultancy service will include, but are not limited to, the following:
The consultant will be responsible for:
A) Training Curriculum and Materials
B) Pre-Training Assessment Tools
C) Facilitation of Two Training Rounds
D) Pre- and Post-Training Evaluation Report
E) Draft Localized Contingency Planning Frameworks
G) Final Consultancy Report
The consultant will report directly to the SOS Children’s Villages National lead project coordinator and work in close collaboration with technical teams from DSW and PHE Ethiopia Consortium
