Job Description

Organizational Context and Scope:

The Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (CISP) (International Committee for the Development of People) is a NGO established in 1983 in Rome, Italy and currently operating in 30 countries in various parts of the world. CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986 through relief, rehabilitation and development projects. In collaboration with various local partners CISP is actively implementing projects in Ethiopia in the area of humanitarian assistance, agriculture, food security, livelihood, DRR, WASH, education, Youth and Women Development and other social development projects.

CISP in partnership with CESVI and CBM is implementing a project entitled “Humanitarian Development/Peace Nexus in Refugees and Host Community of Benishangul Gumuz Regional State. The aim of the project is to Strength the Ability of Refugees of South Sudanese as well as host populations in the Benishangul Gumuz Region to Respond to Natural and Migration shocks.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Social Worker will be responsible for project implementation at the Refugee camp level.
  • He leads beneficiary selection for all components of the project by devising targeting strategies and methodologies pertinent to all project components in close collaboration with RRS and UNHCR.
  • Works closely with government partners at the local level and the people of concern to facilitate the proper implementation of project components in Bambasi woreda of Benishangul Gumuz Region.
  • Assist the respective officer in the routine direct implementation of the project activities at beneficiaries and camp levels by mobilizing community participation, facilitate grassroots level meetings, etc.
  • Support the team in project implemention, monitoring and evaluation activities of the livelihood, agriculture and WASH sectors  in and outside the camp,
  • The jobholder will be responsible for community sensitization and awareness-raising activities for new approaches and technology adaptation whenever necessary.
  • Collect feedback from the beneficiaries and manage according to the CISP CFM policy,
  • The Social worker is also responsible to prepare periodic reports and works as focal point in assessing and reporting security situations at the camp level.
  • He performs other additional activities under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  •    BSC/Diploma degree in rural development, community work, general agriculture, rural  economics, or related field

EXPERIENCE

  •  Minimum of 3 years for BSc or 6 years for Diploma relevant experience and knowledge of social work principles and practices;
  • Experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing monitoring and evaluation plans;
  • Experience in indicator development, qualitative and quantitative data collection and reporting methodologies,
  • Ability in organizing and facilitating awareness raising and capacity building training to communities, as well as supporting colleagues in this aspect;
  • Demonstrated analyzing and report writing skill;
  • Preferable experience working with refugees;
  • Excellent in written and spoken English;
  • An applicant should be a resident and a person from the surrounding areas Assosa.

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing donor (s) funded projects; NGO experience and Knowledge of local language (culture and context).

Desired Experience & Qualifications 

  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to do all essential accounting functions;
  • Ability to handle additional tasks assigned;
  • Posses’ personal qualities like willingness, honesty and integrity etc.;
  • Open and easily approachable;
  •  Should manifest adequate knowledge in performing IT related works like, doing Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat; and related software including e-mail management systems.
