Community Mobilizers (2 Positions)

DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position.

Community Mobilizer

Role and Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions and dialogues on GBV, harmful traditional practices (e.g., FGM, Child marriage etc), and available services.
• Mobilize community members and leaders to support project activities.
• Support safeguarding champions and GBV task forces in awareness campaigns and referrals.
• Collect community feedback using suggestion boxes and participatory methods.
• Report regularly on outreach activities and community perceptions.
• Reports to: Project Officer

Age: 20-35

Qualification BA/MA

• Diploma or certificate in community development, social work, or related field

NGO/CSO Experience

• At least 1 year

Additional skill

• Good experience in community mobilization or social work.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Fluent in the Local language
• Familiarity with the local context and ability to work in rural areas.
