Community Facilitator (4 Positions)

General Overview:

This document outlines the standard roles and responsibilities associated with this position. Job Summary:

The Community Facilitators will be based in Karat Zuria District (2 positions) and Derashe District (2 positions). They will be responsible for community mobilization, awareness creation, beneficiary engagement, self-help group facilitation, and participatory monitoring under the She-F.E.R.A. Project.

The facilitators will ensure that project objectives, donor information, and implementation modalities are clearly communicated to communities. They will support accurate collection of socio-demographic data, preparation of beneficiary master lists, facilitation of community meetings, nutrition awareness activities, and promotion of inclusive participation of women, youth, and vulnerable households. They will act as a key link between PAD, community structures, and local government extension services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Mobilization and Engagement

• Mobilize community members, women’s groups, youth groups, and local leaders to participate actively in project activities.
• Facilitate community sensitization sessions on nutrition, moringa utilization, gender equality, and climate-resilient practices.
• Support inclusive participation of women-headed households and vulnerable groups.

Beneficiary Targeting and Data Collection

• Support participatory beneficiary identification and registration processes at the kebele level.
• Collect accurate household-level socio-demographic data using approved tools.
• Assist in preparing, validating, and updating beneficiary master lists.

Support to Community Groups

• Facilitate the formation and basic strengthening of self-help groups (SHGs), women’s groups, youth groups, and farmer groups.
• Promote peer learning, community ownership, and collective action.

Nutrition and Awareness Activities

• Support the organization of community nutrition days, cooking demonstrations, and awareness campaigns focused on moringa and dietary diversity.
• Assist school-based nutrition and awareness activities in coordination with teachers and school administrations.
• Reinforce key nutrition and hygiene messages during household and group visits.

Coordination and Field Follow-up

• Maintain regular coordination with kebele-level agriculture, health, and education extension workers.
• Support field-level implementation of activities led by PAD and consortium partners.
• Participate in review meetings and field visits as required.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Accountability

• Conduct routine follow-up visits to households and community groups.
• Document community feedback, challenges, and lessons learned.
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports.
• Support community feedback and complaint handling mechanisms.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform other community-level duties assigned by the Project Officer or Project Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Education:

• BA Degree or Diploma in Plant Science, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Nutrition, or related fields, with 4 years of relevant work experience.

Work Experience

• Experience working directly with rural communities, women’s groups, youth groups, or farmer groups.
• Experience in community-based development, agriculture, nutrition, or livelihoods projects.
• Prior experience with NGO or donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies
