Job Description

The CDF reports to field based Project Coordinator and works closely with the project team. The CDF is exclusively responsible to ensure the proper implementation of the Programme activities in the respective district through closely working with the local government partners, beneficiary communities and networking, harmonizing and coordinating with other actors & initiatives in the districts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Together with district government partners assist communities and Community Based Organizations in project activity planning, formulation of implementation strategies and action plans and have these carried out and followed up in the field,
  • Ensures that the process and methods followed in implementing programme activities are in line with agreed programme strategy and methodology and activities accomplished and outputs achieved and results documented;
  • Surveying, compiling and reporting of the situation (production conditions, Forest conditions, Watershed, rangelands, community livelihoods, and related issues) in the project implementation areas on monthly basis and based on a format to be developed and provided by the project;
  • Be responsible and take the lead role for facilitating the inclusion and equal as well as active participation of women and marginalized minority groups in all the project activities;
  • Facilitate and ensure local government partners and communities are informed and continuously updated about the intervention and contributing their part;
  • Ensures that project outputs and activities are monitored, and data (project achievement indicators) recorded in such a way to permit evaluation and assess impacts,
  • Work with field based project team, head office in Addis Ababa and government counterparts to achieve the project outputs/outcomes.
  • Work with the project team in the selection of project intervention sites and beneficiaries of the project in the implementation districts in collaboration with government partners and project staff.
  • Participate in the assessments, studies, surveys, monitoring, review and evaluation activities at the community level
  • Facilitate field visits, experience sharing visits at the community level
  • Support to identify training needs, prepare training materials, and deliver training, business plan development and other services to CBOs and unions
  • Facilitate community meetings, dialogues among others, and discuss modalities within CBOs/PFMCs/PRMCs/ women and youth enterprises
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and update the implementation of the project activities on time.

Required Education, Qualifications/Experiences and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of BSc Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, or related fields with 5 years practical work experience;
  • Knowledge of local language – Afaan Oromo.
  • Knowledge of PFM, climate-smart Agri-value chain development and integrated watershed management, Natural Resource Management, Participatory Development Approach, and the like.
