CARITAS Switzerland (CACH) has been working in Ethiopia for more than 45 years. Currently CACH cooperates with four partners in Ethiopia. CACH has successfully been registered as an International Non-Government Organization in Ethiopia and has therefore become operational at project implementation level. CACH’s main working fields are: Climate, Income, Migration as well as Humanitarian Aid Responses. CACH current working areas are in Oromia, SNNPR, Amhara and Tigray. CACH supports and implements currently about ten projects in these regions.

Summary of Duties

Facilitate overall organizational activities at grass-root level such as facilitation of project activities, under the mandate of CACH’s project interventions in the area of renewable energy, and react to emergencies within conserved landscapes, community mobilization, beneficiary registration, reporting, facilitation of capacity building activities, honey/be development cooperatives, support income generation groups and facilitate community sessions, Livelihood, market development interventions and follow up of activities at grass root levels and ensuring delivery of planned activities with beneficiary communities as per the project plan and time frame.

Main Role and Responsibility of this position.

Facilitate and coordinate overall project implementation at Woreda level

  • Work with the project team, partners and government counterparts and local communities to achieve the project outputs/outcomes at his/her specific cluster
  • Ensure adequate consultation and participation of Woreda and village/community level stakeholders ensuring active participation of women and youth
  • Provide expertise and advice for community institutions on gender mainstreaming in project scheme
  • Provide direct community support in partnership with government stakeholders
  • Conduct other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator
  • Ensure conducive working environment and enabling team spirit in the field
  • Ensure implementation of capacity building plans in close collaboration with the stake holders
  • Prepares regular weekly and monthly reports to immediate supervisor.
  • Collects basic data/operational area profiles
  • Keeps recording of project beneficiaries’ data

Required Number: One (1)

Duty station will be in Bale zone, Delomena Field coordination office. The candidate must be ready to be based in Bale zone, Delomena and frequent field trips to Kebeles of (Hora Korre, Danisa Kerkero and Rira) Medawolabu and Goba Woredas and to other project sites.

Job Requirements

About candidate

  • The ideal candidate represents the majority of the below mentioned areas.
  • Trained on community facilitation/PRA approach.
  • Knowledge of the intervention area and project implementation.
  • Organizing communities, participatory approaching, problem resolving capacity and reporting skills
  • Based at Kebele level and daily monitor the project intervention.
  • Having Motorbike driving skill and licence is advantageous
  • Frequent travel to operational Kebeles using motorbike is mandatory

Education

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Complementary training in community approaching and knowing local context is a plus.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of working experience on power systems, Renewable Energy system
  • At least 1 year of proven experience on Solar photovoltaic design, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation.
  • NGO experience is an advantage

Language

  • Full command of the Local working language (Afan Oromo) and English is Mandatory
