Role overview
The Communications and Documentation Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of ActionAid Ethiopia’s communication, documentation, and visibility initiatives. The role is responsible for producing compelling communication products that showcase programme impact, strengthen public engagement, support fundraising and advocacy, and enhance the organization’s visibility across print, digital, and social media platforms.
The successful candidate will work closely with programme, humanitarian, advocacy, fundraising, sponsorship, and MEAL teams to document evidence, amplify community voices, and communicate ActionAid Ethiopia’s work in an ethical, timely, and engaging manner.
Key Activities
- Lead organizational communication, branding, and visibility initiatives.
- Produce high-quality communication materials, including success stories, case studies, newsletters, annual reports, brochures, speeches, and donor visibility products.
- Coordinate media engagement, press releases, campaigns, and public relations activities.
- Document programme achievements, lessons learned, humanitarian responses, and impact stories.
- Manage and regularly update the organization’s website and digital communication platforms.
- Develop engaging social media content and monitor digital engagement.
- Coordinate the production of publications, photography, videos, and other visibility materials.
- Build the communication capacity of staff, partners, and communities in storytelling, ethical communication, and branding.
- Maintain an organized repository of communication assets and institutional knowledge products.
- Monitor communication activities and prepare periodic reports.
About You
- BA or MA Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Development Communication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience with a BA or 6 years’ experience with an MA in communications, public relations, documentation, media, digital communication, or knowledge management.
- Previous experience in the NGO, development, or humanitarian sector is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of digital communication, website content management, and social media.
- Experience in media relations and public engagement.
- Photography and visual documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication design software such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

- Ability to multitask and prioritize work
