The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill Cluster Coordinator vacancy for its Trachoma Control Program:
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and provides overall guidance to all trachoma activities in his catchment area
- Provide technical support to partners on planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of trachoma activities
- Organizes various trainings (TT surgery, MDA and STP/F&E), biannual and annual program review meetings, and workshops
- Undertakes supportive supervision (schools, health facilities, household) in collaboration with implementing partners
- Produces comprehensive monthly report and submits to partners and regional/sub regional office
- Coordinates TT surgery services and organizes quality audit, supervision of IECWs in collaboration with ZHD, Training and supervision officer, and IECWs supervisors
- Ensures adequate supplies of TT surgery items are available at zone and woreda levels. (timely collect and submits stock report, submit a request to RHB when needed)
- Participates in planning of MDA campaign; coordinates the MDA and ensures the implementation of proper drug administration (supervises teams, and rapid coverage survey)
- Collects MDA data (including drug balance) and synthesizes summary report and shares to regional/sub-regional office
- Works closely with education sector to support implementation of STP activities
- Works closely with woreda education offices to get timely STP quarter report and submits to regional office and staff seconded to BOE
- Facilitates the process of Trachoma Impact Surveys (Gott data collection, dispatching official letter, arranging training venue, arranging training site for field practice)
- Supports the revitalization and NTDs task force and organizes meetings within his catchment area
- Ensures proper documentation of project documents at all levels and assist in dossier preparation are available at zone and cluster project offices, ZHD, ZED, Woredas, HFs and schools
- Attends different meetings when invited by partners and NGOs operating in NTDs
- Attend monthly meetings with coordinators and implementing partners
- Submits monthly budget request, prepares payrolls, and facilitates the payments
- Filling out the appraisal of Driver Logistician
- Ensures project vehicle/s are being serviced as per the schedule
- Performs other duties as instructed by zone project coordinator
Terms of Employment: One year contract with a possibility of extension.
Duty Station: Amhara, East Gojjam (Debre-Markos)
Reports to: Zone Project Coordinator
Job Requirements
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or related fields from a recognized university
Experience
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in disease prevention and control, preferably NTDs.
Additional Requirements:
- Reasonably good NGO experience
- Willingness to travel and work in remote areas
- Good computer skills, especially in data management
- Recommendation letter from the most recent employer
- Able to present release letter from current employer in two weeks after job offer
