Job Description

Samaritans Purse is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join our Information Technology department, working remotely. You can help protect the ministry by securing its cloud infrastructure, environments, and applications while ensuring data integrity across critical systems. As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage security solutions tailored to the ministry’s cloud environments, evaluate security requirements, and deploy best-in-class protections. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices across technology operations, automate cloud security processes, and proactively identify and mitigate risks. A day in the life of a Cloud Security Engineer:

In the role of Cloud Security Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Work independently and collaborate with both the cybersecurity team and cross-functional Cloud teams to design, implement, secure, and maintain technology solutions, improvements, and upgrades. Responsible for incident response, compliance efforts, and ongoing Cloud security enhancement.
  • Monitor security alerts, logs, and reports, investigating potential incidents and coordinating responses as necessary.
  • Act as a contributing member of the cybersecurity incident response team, maintaining availability to provide on-call support and ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLA) and operating procedures.
  • Identify and address security vulnerabilities and threats to the technology stack, prioritizing findings and collaborating with teams to coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies, providing insights and recommendations to enhance the organizations security posture.
  • Share cybersecurity knowledge and provide guidance to cybersecurity team members and cross-functional teams, adapting communication to address a variety of cybersecurity needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university program and five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.
    A minimum of one cybersecurity certification is required, including CISSP, CISM, OSCP, GIAC, or something similar.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
