About the Opportunity

The Inkomoko COO is a fast-paced, highly efficient, and incredibly communicative leader, who gives a lot of feedback and works long hours.  This is your chance to touch a lot of different projects, and drive the pace of a fast-growing organization.

Responsibilities

Operational Excellence Initiatives (50%)

  • Work with the various operational departments reporting to the COO (human resources, IT, monitoring and evaluation, legal/contracting, and new country expansion).  This could be on a range of projects from revamping the on-boarding process with the HR team, to opening up new offices in South Sudan.
  • Enhance new company policies and processes, through benchmarking research, drafting, and roll out
  • Scope, hire, and manage consultants on various operational projects to improve company systems and processes
  • Coordinate across teams to run continuous improvement processes and innovations

Advisor (30% time)

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the COO, providing feedback and guidance on day-to-day issues ranging from expansion planning to staff culture
  • Identify challenges and opportunities in line with the company growth strategy and explore and efficiently implement new solutions

Executive Support (20%)

  • Manages calendar, travel, event planning, and meeting arrangements for COO
  • Creates compelling internal and external communications materials, including her presentations, emails, and talking points
  • Provides staff support to the Board, including meeting management, materials prep, and correspondence
  • Attends meetings with or on behalf of the COO.

Minimum Qualifications

For this role, the successful candidate will be an absolute rock star with respect to:

  • Communication & feedback:  must be highly communicative, proactive in communication, and an absolute excellent writer. Must be equally comfortable leading internal meetings and writing to Ministers.  An advocate of “Radical Candor” approach to care personally and challenge directly in communication style.
  • Project management:  must be able to develop logical and detailed plans, budgets, and manage people and processes to reach outcomes.
  • Multitasking: This office runs a lot of simultaneous initiatives, so the candidate must be able to toggle between various projects seamlessly.
  • Efficient:  I work fast, and need someone who can keep up with my energy, hours, and turn-around time with good judgment.
  • Technically skilled:  Strong computer skills, and flows smoothly through both databases and Canva.
  • Impeccable integrity:  Honesty, straight shooter, advocate for equality for vulnerable people, Zero tolerance for gross misconduct.
  • Must love working in East Africa and be willing to travel throughout the region.
  • Must have previous leadership experience in a senior organizational role.
  • Experience in a high-growth, mission-driven start-up is preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years in a leadership role, or previous COS responsibilities
