Position Overview

NEWA is seeking a dynamic and committed Cashier Accountant to provide cash handling and accounting support for its various projects and programs. The position will cover a 4-month maternity leave period and requires strong attention to detail and integrity in managing financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect all funds and other legal remittances, issue proper receipts, and record all transactions.
  • Reconcile daily collections against vouchers/receipts and deposit the cash in the bank at the earliest possible time (no later than the next day) with proper documentation.
  • Stamp and properly file all finance-related supporting documents (vouchers, journal vouchers, etc.) in their respective donor box files.
  • Record monthly withholding tax and reconcile with system records.
  • Prepare year-end journal vouchers and bank payment vouchers and ensure they are filed chronologically.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Accountabilities

  • Supervision: Works independently on routine tasks under the general direction of the Finance and Administration Manager.
  • Decision Making: Makes routine decisions within assigned responsibilities and is accountable for them.
  • Responsibility over Data and Information: Has access to important and highly confidential financial information related to the organization.
  • Responsibility over Assets: Custodian of financial files, office equipment, stationery, and other related assets.
  • Responsibility over Staff: Cashier.

About You

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma in Accounting or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel when required.
