JOB SUMMARY

The Cash Assistant will support the implementation of the WFP‑funded Cash for Nutrition project targeting vulnerable populations, including IDPs and host communities. The role primarily involves conducting beneficiary verification, managing crowd control during cash distribution, and ensuring smooth, accountable, and transparent cash transfer processes. The Cash Assistant will work closely with the project team and relevant stakeholders to uphold operational standards and ensure that all activities are carried out in line with organizational procedures and donor requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct beneficiary verification using approved registration lists, identification methods, and verification tools.
• Manage crowd control at the distribution sites.
• Mobilize IDPs for cash distribution.
• Coordinate with FSP and prepare cash distribution schedule
• Support FSP to distribute cash, scan QR codes, collect signatures, and update distribution lists.
• Create awareness to who to contact if QR codes are damaged or lost.
• Coordinate with WFP to resolve QR code-related problems.
• Ensure beneficiaries receive the correct transfer amounts.
• Follow up all target locations to confirm cash disbursement matches FSP reporting.
• Support the documentation of attendance, transaction records, and distribution reports in line with project guidelines.
• Assist in resolving minor beneficiary issues or refer complex cases to supervisors or appropriate staff.
• Ensure that all activities adhere to WFP standards, organizational procedures, and safeguarding principles.
• Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information and handle sensitive data responsibly.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and field assessments as required.
• Support coordination with community representatives, local authorities, and site management to ensure smooth implementation of cash activities. Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations.

ABILITY

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Ability to work with flexibility in remote and challenging settings, including willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
• Ability to conduct community outreach and raise awareness about nutrition programs effectively.
• Ability to train and mentor local health workers and volunteers on nutrition program implementation.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to remote and rural field sites as required by the program needs.
• Ability to maintain cultural sensitivity and respect for local traditions while working in pastoral communities.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

• Diploma or BSC in Social Science, Nutrition & Health-related field Good knowledge of written and spoken English and local language.
• High commitment to work with pastoral communities in remote and challenging environments.
• Work experience in Cash and Food security Program is an asset and interest in and ability to train volunteers.

EXPERIENCE

• At least One year of professional experience after qualification
• Experience in BSFP/TSFP, MPC, or targeted cash, and SFL program is preferable
• Experience working with INGOs is an added advantage

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE

• Experience in community mobilization, data collection, and beneficiary management in remote, pastoral settings is required.
• Experience working with Health Extension Workers (HEWs) or other local counterparts in delivering nutrition programs is an added advantage.
• Experience with WFP-supported CBT programs is desirable.
• Experience working with NGOs or INGOs in the nutrition/health sector is an added advantage.

SKILLS

• Moderately skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to compile data, prepare reports, and create presentations.
• Skilled in data collection and analysis using appropriate tools for nutrition program monitoring.
• Strong community mobilization skills to engage and educate beneficiaries and local stakeholders.
• Skilled in communicating and collaborating with diverse teams, including community members, local authorities, and partners.
