The Cardiologist will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the heart and blood vessels. This role involves managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, conducting diagnostic tests, and collaborating with other specialists to provide comprehensive cardiac care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Duties:

• Evaluate patients with cardiovascular symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, and hypertension.
• Diagnose and manage various heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic tests including ECG, echocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring.
• Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and recommendations for interventional procedures or surgery.
• Provide preventative cardiology services and risk factor modification counseling.
• Manage acute cardiac emergencies.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient cardiovascular records.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, internal medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals for multidisciplinary care.
• Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives related to cardiac care.

Educational Duties:

• Educate patients and their families on heart health, disease management, and lifestyle changes.
• Mentor junior medical staff and students in cardiology principles.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiovascular medicine and technology.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
• Specialization in Cardiology.
• Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia
• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-internship experience as a Cardiologist.

• Strong diagnostic skills and clinical judgment in complex cardiac cases.
• Proficiency in non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Effective communication and teamwork
• Good time management and organizational skills.
