Role Purpose

The post holder will provide support, advice, and oversight on CSSP2 activities, particularly capacity strengthening and monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts. This role entails coordinating and helping with capacity development action plans with the project’s civil society organization (CSO) grantees. Other responsibilities include implementing and updating the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Tracking Table, ensuring timely reporting and information sharing, and identifying and facilitating learning opportunities with CSO partners. This position will report to their respective hub manager and will be working closely with the CD lead and MEL Manager.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:

  • Identify learning and capacity development needs for grantees CSOs through capacity assessment processes and workshops. Promote mutual identification of capacity development needs by the user and CSSP2
  • Monitor changes in the capacity and performance of the CSO partners over time.
  • Document and disseminate best practices or project success stories across the CSO partners and report on a regular basis.

Role specific knowledge and experience:

  • CSO and Government Capacity Building – Significant experience of building the capacity of CSO grant recipients and Government offices. 
  • Adult training and coaching skills.
  • An understanding of research methodologies and data, analysis and dissemination processes.

  • Role holder must have existing rights to live and work in the country the role is based.
  • Ability to do regular domestic or international travel will be required
  • Language requirement- Fluency in English (C1 or IELTS 6.5 or equivalent), Amharic and/or a language spoken and used in one of the regional states of the country

Job Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • University degree in social science, public administration, education, law, or another relevant field
  • Academic qualification in adult learning, education, capacity development design, and delivery
  • Experience in capacity building interventions for a wide range of stakeholders including civil society actors and government offices within a programme or project context
  • Experience of working for client funded civil society capacity development programme
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role working in the NGO or donor funded context

Desirable:

  • Project/programme management qualification
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role working in the NGO or donor funded context
