ORDAETHIOPIA is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improve livelihood and environmental security in Amhara Region as well as in Ethiopia since 1984 G.C. It envisaged to bring the above changes in the community by working on environment and climate change, water and irrigation, agriculture, nutrition and disaster risk management, gender, disability inclusion and youth Employment and food commodity management and emergency response interventions. ORDA Ethiopia is a highly result oriented organization with dedicated management and competent staffs. ORDA Ethiopia would like to invite competent candidates who fulfill the requirements of the vacancy indicated below.

Program overview

Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) program is a five-year youth employment creation program funded by Master Card Foundation to be implemented in 9(nine) regions of Ethiopia. The program is divided in to two sub national hubs. ORDA Ethiopia, as a lead organization will coordinate the implementation of program in 61 woredas of the North and North West Ethiopia hub of the program includes Amhara, Afar, Benishangul Gumuz and Tigray Regions. The program plans to help jobless youth to create jobs for themselves by participating them mainly in apiculture value chain and other complimentary value chains. The main interventions of the program are
  • Increasing national honey and bees wax production;
  • Improving honey quality to meet both national and international standards;
  • Promoting market-driven value addition and product diversification;
  • Enhancing integration of apiculture with other complementary value chains; and
  • Improving enabling environment for youth and apiculture sector development.

Position Summary:

The capacity building lead will coordinate, facilitate and lead the capacity building components of the MAYEA Program. Identify capacity building needs of the program and its IPs and design appropriate capacity packages and implement accordingly to enhance capacitates IPs and their staffs to implement the program effectively. Play active role in networking with national and other sub-national hubs, apiculture associations/cooperatives, government stakeholders and policy makers at North and North West Hub levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the capacity building components of the program for ensuring all capacity development interventions at grass root as well as institution level are in place effectively.
  • Ensure effective operational planning of capacity building interventions and activities, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and communications with partners and stakeholders is in place.
  • Facilitate the development of training materials and processes for specific areas/topics identified as needed for capacity development including training; mentoring and coaching of MAYEA program clusters’ IPs.
  • Provide technical backstopping to cluster officers.
  • Ensures the timely provision of capacity building services for the youth and other local government and private actors of the sector.
  • Provide guidance in developing comprehensive capacity building plan and other capacity building related issues and ensure its implementation.
  • Collect and apply state of the art capacity building tools and techniques for the program stakeholders both at service delivery and service recipients’ end.
  • Ensure the preparation and management of the full range of field level capacity building trainings.
  • Provide strategic directions and guidance to implementing partners (IPs).
  • Prepare capacity building related reports for the Sub National Hub Program Director.
  • Ensure ORDA Ethiopia Safeguarding policy is effectively implemented and report any form of abuse to the safeguarding officer.
  • Conduct other activities as deemed necessary.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications and requirements:
Education Background
  • Master’s degree in Economics, business administration,  Agribusiness, Management
Work experience
  • Minimum of 8(eight) years of experience in development of which at least four years of relevant experience in developing training manuals, modules, curricula and training materials for national/international organizations.
  • Two years of experience in managerial positions.
  • Experience of conducting ToT, training needs assessment along with facilitations skills and ability to independently prepare training report.
  • Experience in International NGO is more preferable
Knowledge/Skills and Competencies 
  • Strong facilitation and adult learning skills.
  • Skills on evaluation and monitoring of training program.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including thorough extensive experience with government institutions, development partners, private sector stakeholders and youth agribusiness groups.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Ability to work in and perform under pressure and in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Excellent report writing in English.
  • Advanced computer skills
