Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community-based organizations across eight program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia, an international non-governmental organization committed to providing love, respect, and security to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it, is seeking a qualified training institution to conduct a Financial Leadership Training for Non-Finance Managers and Coordinators for our Addis Ababa Program Location staffs. This training program aims to empower non-financial leaders with the essential skills to interpret financial statements, manage project budgets effectively, ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations, and foster a culture of accountability and efficient resource utilization to support our humanitarian mission.
Financial decisions are the bedrock of operational success in the nonprofit sector. For managers and coordinators at SOS Children’s Villages, the ability to bridge the gap between programmatic goals and financial reality is essential. Research indicates that organizations with financially literate managers experience significantly higher operational efficiency and improved compliance. This training aims to demystify financial data, transforming it into actionable insights that support the welfare of the children and families we serve.
The program objective is to equip participants with the skills to interpret financial statements, manage budgets, and make informed, strategic decisions. Participants will learn to speak the “language of finance,” enabling them to communicate effectively with finance departments and ensure that every resource is aligned with organizational strategy.
Participants will gain the confidence to prepare budgets, compute key performance indicators (KPIs), and apply management accounting techniques. The ultimate goal is to foster a culture of financial accountability that directly enhances the impact of our programs.
The training will utilize a “Do-Review-Learn-Apply” model, featuring:
