Adroit Associates invites qualified Engineering & Infrastructure (EI) professionals to apply for inclusion in our Engineering Subject-Matter Expert (SME) Pool for Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India and Kenya, supporting immediate and upcoming donor-funded assignments.

This call is linked to prospect future project, including infrastructure assessments, engineering design, rehabilitation planning, feasibility studies, and climate-resilient infrastructure initiatives across multiple regions. Selected experts will be prioritized for short- and medium-term consultancies that are expected to commence on short notice.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking experienced engineering and infrastructure professionals with demonstrated experience working in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India and Kenya, or comparable fragile contexts, particularly those who are deployment-ready and comfortable operating in complex environments.

Core Technical Expertise (one or more of the following):

  • Architectural and engineering design
  • Structural design and analysis
  • CAD / BIM modeling and technical visualization
  • Building code compliance and safety assessments
  • Agricultural and rural infrastructure design
  • Irrigation systems and water management
  • Hydrology and water resource planning
  • Greenhouse and controlled environment infrastructure design
  • Drought mitigation and irrigation rehabilitation
  • Geotechnical investigations and soil mechanics
  • Infrastructure feasibility studies, BOQs, and cost estimates
  • Climate-resilient and disaster-risk-informed infrastructure design

Sectoral Experience (strong asset):

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in engineering discipline

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in the listed roles or comparable fragile contexts

Languages:

  •  Professional proficiency in English; fluency in local languages required

Key Skills:

  • Strong technical analysis and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, subject to security conditions
  • High ethical standards, including safety, safeguarding, and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with donor-funded infrastructure projects (UN agencies, World Bank, EU, FCDO, etc.)
  • Professional Mindset: Practical, collaborative, adaptive, and committed to quality and sustainability

Types of Assignments

Rostered experts may be engaged for:

  • Short-term and medium-term engineering and infrastructure consultancies
  • Infrastructure assessments, feasibility studies, and technical due diligence
  • Engineering design, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Rehabilitation and climate-resilient infrastructure planning
  • Field missions, site inspections, and quality assurance
  • Technical reporting and presentation of findings
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring of local engineers and partners
