As we aim for global expansion, we seek a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth, enhance partnerships, and position Frontieri as a premier consulting firm in East Africa and beyond.

Role Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading high-impact business development initiatives, shaping market expansion strategies, and securing large-scale projects that position Frontieri as a leading consulting firm. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of consulting services, industry trends, and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion

  • Design and execute a long-term business development strategy that ensures market leadership and revenue growth.
  • Lead efforts to diversify Frontieri’s presence in new regions, expanding operations into emerging and high-potential markets.
  • Spearhead market assessments to uncover untapped opportunities, competitive advantages, and demand-driven service expansions.
  • Oversee and optimize the management of country offices, ensuring strategic alignment with Frontieri’s growth trajectory.
  • Develop and implement high-value and strategic partnerships, leveraging industry relationships to secure business opportunities.
  • Drive initiatives that establish Frontieri as a go-to consulting partner for large-scale development projects.
  • Led the identification and acquisition of large-scale grant projects, positioning Frontieri as a key player in donor-funded initiatives.
  • Ensure RFPs and TORs for third-party monitoring and technical assistance services are availed as core business priorities to enhancing revenue streams and sector influence.

Strategic Partnerships & Client Relationship Management

  • Forge alliances with key governmental, non-governmental, and private-sector stakeholders to drive business expansion.
  • Develop high-impact collaborations with global and regional consulting firms, academic institutions, and Universities to expand Frontieri’s expertise and market reach.
  • Oversee partnership negotiations, ensuring agreements align with strategic goals and maximize the long-term value of Frontieri.
  • Lead engagement with high-profile clients, fostering trust-based relationships that drive repeat business.
  • Represent Frontieri at international conferences, policy forums, and strategic networking events to enhance business visibility.

Proposal & Business Development Leadership

  • Develop and implement a data-driven bid strategy, ensuring a high success rate in securing competitive contracts.
  • Direct proposal development for major funding opportunities, ensuring compelling and compliant submissions.
  • Led the formulation of multi-country bids, Country-specific bids, and high-value projects positioning Frontieri as a regional leader in research and advisory services.
  • Develop innovative service offerings that align with emerging industry trends and client needs.
  • Ensure high-quality and appealing proposal development

Operational Excellence & Team Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the business development team, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
  • Establish KPIs and performance monitoring mechanisms to measure and enhance business development success.
  • Streamline internal processes to improve efficiency and agility in business development activities.
  • Mentor and develop talent, building a strong pipeline of future business development leaders within Frontieri.
  • Search the right portal or platform to the country context and subscribe to the platform
  • Conduct the continuous monitoring and performance evaluation of each office manager at the country offices (Kenya, Uganda South Sudan, and others.
  • Ensure the legal compliance and clearance of each country in collaboration with country offices and headquarters administration offices

About You

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in business development, consulting, or related sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience in driving market expansion and securing high-value contracts.
  • Strong strategic thinking and negotiation skills, with a track record of closing large-scale partnerships.
  • Extensive experience in donor-funded initiatives, including social projects, grants, and multi-country programs.
  • Exceptional proposal development and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Strong industry networks and the ability to engage with high-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder business environments.
