SNV, Netherlands Development Organization, has been operating in Ethiopia since the 1970s. SNV is working in eight regional states and the two city administrations in Ethiopia, providing technical assistance and program implementation in Agriculture, WASH, and Energy Sectors.

Project Background

The Project is a Scale-Up Program (NBPE+) in the Energy Sector. NBPE+ is co-financed by the European Union and the government of Ethiopia and being implemented from April 12, 2017, for 81 months in 9 regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Sidama, SNNPR, Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz, Gambella, and Somali).

Summary of the Position:

The Bio-slurry Technical Expert is part of an SNV Ethiopia team and works in Biogas Dissemination Scale-Up Program (NBPE+) in the Energy Sector.

The expert works as a bio-slurry science and technology expert with hands-on knowledge and skills on bio-slurry management and utilization, including composting. S/he focuses his or her efforts on information collection, compilation, standardization, design and development of bio-slurry promotion and training materials, as well as in capacity development of bio-slurry related staff of the program and partners, in close cooperation with the Bio-slurry Value Chain Expert (who works more in the economic and institutional aspects of the bio-slurry extension and mainstreaming of the activities within the agriculture sector actors); while complementing the competencies of other SNV experts in the team. The expert will coordinate with the Bio-slurry Extension Officers of the Regional Biogas Programme Coordination Units (RBPCUs) under the GoE structure, as the direct counterparts. The expert focuses on implementation (getting things done) while applying the approach of advisory service, evidence-based advocacy, and knowledge management

S/he works under the supervision of a Bio-slurry Value Chain Expert and the Project Manager of NBPE+

Qualifications

Minimum of master’s degree in agronomist- agriculture areas or other relevant field and (min. five (5) years and above) experience in development work and project implementation or technical field, particularly in agriculture.
