Job Description
Kegna Beverages Share Company is the company which is under formation and working hard to engross in the Beverage Industry of Ethiopia that is incredibly untapped yet and fast growing.
The Company, officially endorsed on 04 March 2017 by the recommendation and promoter Committee selection of the Public Private Partnership Council of the Oromia Regional State. The promoter committee has been in contact since then frequently on the formal establishment of Kegna Beverages and on fulfilling local legal requirements of company formation, finalizing multiple discipline viability tests and studies and ground preparation for the official launching and foreign direct investment search, and approaches.
Kegna Beverages Share Company officially launched on 01 April 2017 at the Oromo Cultural Center at the Presence of higher Oromia Regional State Officials, Bank Representatives, Local Investors, invited Foreign Investors, Invited guests and Medias. The multiple studies which are mostly finalized as of now (Feasibility Study, Civil and Construction works assessment, Geotechnical, hydrology and topography analysis) on the primarily selected site of the production are finalized and ready to show the picture of the investment as of now.

Role Description
The Assistant Packaging Manager will support the Packaging Manager in overseeing all aspects of the brewery’s packaging operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality packaging of our products in various formats (bottles, cans, kegs). The Assistant Packaging Manager will assist in managing personnel and materials, maintaining equipment, implementing quality control procedures, and optimizing packaging processes to meet production targets and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Production Support:
- Assist the Packaging Manager in planning and scheduling packaging runs to meet production demands.
- Monitor packaging line operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Track and report on packaging line performance metrics (e.g., efficiency, downtime, waste).
Team Management:

- Assist in the supervision and training of packaging line staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate effectively with packaging team members regarding production goals, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Provide input on employee performance and development.
Quality Control:

- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of quality control procedures throughout the packaging process.
- Conduct regular quality checks on packaged products (e.g., fill levels, labeling, seaming, packaging integrity).
- Identify and address quality deviations, escalating issues to the Packaging Manager as needed.
- Maintain accurate quality control records.
Equipment Maintenance:

- Assist in the coordination of preventative maintenance and repairs of packaging equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential maintenance needs.
- Work with maintenance personnel to ensure timely and effective equipment servicing.
Inventory Management:

- Assist in managing the inventory of packaging materials (e.g., bottles, cans, labels, cartons, kegs).
- Monitor material usage and report any discrepancies.
- Participate in inventory counts and audits.
Safety and Compliance:

- Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures within the packaging area.
- Participate in safety training and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and brewery standards.
Process Improvement:

- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Participate in the implementation of new packaging technologies and procedures.
Reporting and Documentation:

- Assist in the preparation of production reports and other relevant documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of packaging activities, including downtime, material usage, and quality checks.
Other Duties:

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Packaging Manager.
- Proven understanding of packaging equipment and processes (e.g., filling, labeling, seaming, case packing, palletizing).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with quality control procedures and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical), Food Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent practical experience in a packaging environment may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a packaging environment, preferably within the beverage or food industry. Brewery experience is highly desirable
- Experience with specific packaging equipment used in the brewing industry.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Formal training in lean manufacturing or process improvement methodologies.
