The organization is looking for experienced candidates to health facilities where it is providing programmatic supports on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care for the following positions.

Position Summary:

The ART Nurse will be responsible to provide routine HIV-related clinical services with more focus on adult clients care and will oversee the general nursing care of all patients and clinic coordination for related health needs of clients.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In close collaboration with the ART Clinician and other clinical staffs, ensure the provision of comprehensive, quality, evidence-based ART (including early initiation for the eligible and ready patients), PMTCT, TB/HIV co-management, OI management, Prevention with positive (Pwp), STI/SCM), care for HEI, management of malnutrition, FP integration, retention to care, treatment failure, MDR TB, etc.
  • Refill the regular medication for patients who do not need physician attention and facilitate the physician consultation as needed
  • In collaboration with other medical team members, ensure that AHF Addis clients early initiation of ART, have high viral-load suppression and high CD4 count
  • Work with the clinical team members to improve clinic performance in relation to FP, HIV index testing, IPT, STI identification & management, minimize waiting time, clinical documentation, and other performance indicators
  • Confirm the enrollment of newly registered clients and collaborate with data clerks to make sure that all registered clients are officially enrolled to AHF-Addis Clinic
  • Support community component of the program including outreaches and mobilization for care and treatment
  • Participate in review meetings & CAM assigned by ART Clinician or Health Officer and share the experience & resolution to MDAT and implement action points indicated as your duty
  • Provide adherence counseling during initiation of ART and on follow up visits
  • Attend CME session organized by AHF for up to date information and patient management
  • Participate in Adult Support Group activities:  Recruitment, coordination of meetings/sessions, reviewing reports, etc.
  • Identify and link with the coordinator to arrange for the vocational training of clinic clients that is to be given by other partner organizations
  • Assume a focal person for specific clinical activities as assigned by ART Clinician
  • Facilitate disclosure of HIV test result with designated patient supporter or partner/family
  • Participate in the referral & linkage of patients for community service and within the facility. Follow the outcome of the referral & support patients in the preparation of medical certificate, medical reports, and related services
  • Participate in multidisciplinary AIDS team (MDAT) meetings and implement recommendation
  • Participate in the TB DOTs/HIV program and assessment of this program
  • Take part in the implementation of a continuous quality assurance and improvement program at the clinical service by participating in qualitative/quantitative measurement on regular basis. Strive for high quality and client-centered service (simplified work flow & shorter waiting time)
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and utilization of national ART recording formats of all treatment services (i.e., patient chart forms, lab investigation results, FP register, HEI) and other facility specific clinical service registration formats (such as daily registration). Prepare and deliver reports using the appropriate formats
  • In collaboration with the ART Clinician or Health Officer, provide emergency care for clients who need pre-referral resuscitation
  • Participate in the development of annual/quarter plan and monitor their implementation

Job Requirements

Education, Qualification, and Experience:

  • BSc in Clinical Nursing (or minimum of Diploma) from a recognized institution; having other additional health background is an added advantage
  • At least three years’ experience in HIV program activities, with particular emphasis on ART service delivery, in a similar international NGO or developmental agency
  • Training on Basic/ Comprehensive ART would be a necessity; additional training on PMTCT, HCT, TB/HIV, MDR TB/ CBS/ HIV self-test/ ICT/ Nutritional management for PLWH is an advantage
  • Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, internet skills, and knowledge on data base
  • Excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills with good command of English & Amharic languages
  • Effective time management and meeting deadlines maintaining quality
  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate multi-tasking ability
  • Flexible, proactive and able to organize work independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal interaction skills and keen to work with good team spirit
