Job Description

 Background

Stichting Wageningen Research (SWR) Ethiopia is an international NGO registered in Ethiopia since March 2021 with the FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations. The organization is established with the objectives of promoting resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems in Ethiopia. One of the projects implemented by SWR is Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Ethiopian Food Systems (RAISE FS).

RAISE FS project is a four-year research for development program with a mission to leverage transformation in Ethiopian food systems covering the continuum from food insecure to the better –endowed households and regions in effort of realizing production surpluses, commodity commercialization, and food and nutritional security in a sustainable manner. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Federal MoA, regional BoA, Agricultural Research Institutes and universities.

The position

We are looking for an experienced Advisor for evidence documentation and scaling, who can facilitate the documentation of evidences of demonstrated innovations by RAISE-FS project for effective communication and scaling. Our future colleague has a good network and understanding of the content matters, has a proven track record in facilitating and coordinating the documentation of quantitative and qualitative evidences of innovations,  is familiar with regional, federal and international channels to share, disseminate and scale the evidence and findings of our work and can translate the results and generated outcomes into communication materials for different audiences who are reached through different media. In addition the candidate has experience with the scaling of research innovations through the Ethiopian extension and research system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for facilitation and coordination of the documentation of evidences of innovations (quantitative and qualitative) together with project outcome advisors, implementing partners and relevant stakeholders;
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the designed harmonized data collection and management tool;
  • Facilitate proactive networking with relevant stakeholders including policy makers, development partners and practitioners
  • Engage in external and internal communication activities in collaboration with the project communication expert;
  • Sets up mechanisms and liaise with staff, implementing partners and scaling partners to stimulate information sharing, and systematically receive and compile relevant information in a timely manner
  • Engage in the documentation of change stories of stakeholders
  • Engage in the development of outreach and scaling support materials for different audiences, in collaboration with staff at international, federal and regional level
  • Facilitate the mainstreaming and scaling of documented evidences of innovation in collaboration with scaling partners

Project:              Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Ethiopian food systems (RAISE-FS)

Duty station:   Addis Ababa

Duration:          Two years, subject to annual renewal based on performance

Reports to:       RAISE-FS Deputy Project Manager

Job Requirements

Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required

Minimum requirements:

  • MSc in agricultural economics or extension sciences with good experience and proven track record of scientific documentation of evidences of innovation.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in agricultural research for development organizations/projects
  • Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to produce effective content with text and visuals for different audiences,
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated experience in multistakeholder management ;
  • Good acquaintance with mainstreaming and scaling of agricultural innovations.
  • Outgoing personality and strong networks
  • Excellent skills / proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and statistical software.
