Accountant

Job Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, preparing financial reports, processing financial transactions, monitoring accounts, and supporting the effective financial management of American Medical Center. The position requires a detail-oriented, organized, ethical, and accountable professional with solid accounting knowledge and practical experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions.
• Prepare and review vouchers, invoices, receipts, payment requests, and other financial documents.
• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
• Prepare bank, cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable reconciliations.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and payable and follow up on pending balances.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting and financial records.
• Verify financial documents and transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting activities and statutory deductions.
• Prepare and submit relevant tax and other statutory reports in accordance with applicable Ethiopian laws and regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial records and supporting documents.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and assist in resolving financial issues.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and the financial policies and procedures of AMC.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, Accounting, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
• Experience in the healthcare sector, hospital, medical center, or other service organization is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
