Job Description

Title: Accountant and cashier

Report to: Finance Manager

Job location: Haile Garment

Salary: Negotiable

Tikuret Lesetoch ena Lehetsanat Maheber (TLLM) is a local non-governmental organization that is established in 2007. It has been working towards its mission, which is, creating lasting positive change that exerts its utmost for children with special needs and their mothers in Ethiopia. TLLM supported more than 12,000 community members in its 18-year journey. Currently, TLLM is seeking highly professional accountants and casher to add up on its team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Analyze transactions, bank statements, and generate invoices.
  • Prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports.
  • Ensure steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices on time.
  • Update contracts based on client requirements and budget amendments.
  • Manage cashiers and other accountants.
  • Verify expense reimbursements with supporting documents for compliance.
  • Review payroll reports and supporting documents at month-end.
  • Follow up on contract renewals.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
  • Review the General Ledger monthly, analyzing expenses and budget variances.
  • Prepare and post adjustments and closing entries.
  • Receive and transmit local and international telephone calls.
  • Establish up-to-date filing and record-keeping systems according to the TLLM’s guidelines, and file all documents in relevant folders.
  • File and take care of all documents that should be kept in office; especially, keep confidential documents in safe place.
  • Provide typing and clerical services as assigned (draft letters, Memos and related);
  • Make cash collections against appropriate receipt Vouchers.
  • Keep the custody of petty cash and receivable documents properly.
  • Effect payments from petty cash fund upon authorization by the relevant person.
  • Pay monthly staff salary;
  • Maintain cashbook for the petty cash she handles.
  • Make monthly cash counts in the presence of Senior Accountant or Administration and Finance Head
  • Performs related tasks as required.

About You

Requirements and Skills:

  • Experience as accountant and casher in an NGO.
  • Familiarity with finance regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in accounting roles on NGOs. (Experience in an NGO is a must)
