Development Expertise Center (DEC)
DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019, as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing registration number 0009. The organization has five major programs: the Child Well-being and Education Development Program, the Gender and Life Skill Development Program, the Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and the Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration.
DEC would like to recruit for the following positions: Driver
Role and Responsibilities
- Checks the vehicle at the start of each working day for the general condition of the vehicle, checks coolants (oil, water), fuel level, tire conditions, etc., and drives the vehicle with maximum safety and care, and according to traffic regulations;
- Makes sure he/she wears seatbelts and conforms to safety rules at all times;
- Transports passengers and goods from place to place when given official instructions.
- Picks up or meets persons according to schedules and instructions;
- Treats all passengers with due respect and ensures the safety of all concerned;
- Being on standby to drive at all times when on duty and maintain focus;
- Reports accidents to supervisor promptly and complies with traffic regulations and insurance policy;
- Carries a proper driving license with him/her at all times; renews it yearly or as required by law;
- Reports any defective parts or malfunctions; keeps and submits a report on fuel consumption, mileage, car use, etc., using a logbook or other formats provided for the purpose;
- Initiates purchase requisitions of spare parts and replacement tires, ensuring their quality;
- Signs and prints his/her name at the back of all fuel and other receipts presented by him/her for reimbursement;
- Performs any other related duties of a permanent or temporary nature that may be assigned to him/her.

Additional Skill
- Good Communication skills in the local Language /Amharic, Oromifa, Afar…/
- Good communication skills in teamwork and team mobilization

Technical and Other Skills
- Good Experience, Proficient cashier and clerical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication in both the local and English languages.
- Willing to work in a harsh area, including on weekends and evenings
