Job Description
Job Summary
The Financial Inclusion Officer is responsible for promoting access to and use of appropriate, affordable, and inclusive financial services by target communities, particularly rural young women and marginalized groups. Focuses on strengthening savings and loan schemes, building financial literacy, supporting linkages with formal financial institutions, and enhancing income-generating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
Specific Responsibilities
- Facilitate the establishment, training, and strengthening of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), cooperatives, and other community-based financial groups.
- Provide financial literacy and business skills training for target groups (budgeting, savings, credit, debt management, entrepreneurship).
- Support beneficiaries in accessing microfinance, banks, mobile money, and other inclusive financial services.
- Promote the participation of rural young women in financial inclusion initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with financial service providers, cooperatives, and private sector actors.
- Facilitate market linkages and partnerships to improve access to financial products and services.
- Advocate for inclusive and gender-responsive financial products tailored to community needs.
- Track progress of financial inclusion activities and maintain up-to-date beneficiary databases.
- Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or the management of the organization

About You
Educational Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in financial inclusion, microfinance, livelihoods, or related fields (preferably in NGO/CSO).
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of financial literacy, small business development, and gender-responsive approaches.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in working with women, youth, and marginalized groups.
