Hope for Justice (HFJ) is a human rights-based anti-slavery International Civil Society Organization (CSO). Its vision is to live in a world free from slavery. HFJ exists to bring freedom from human trafficking and modern slavery (HTMS) by identifying victims, supporting survivors, preventing exploitation and making impact through proven multi-disciplinary program models. HFJ is guided by four organizational values of honoring, openness, professionalism and empowerment. Its programming is guided by five principles: human rights based, person centered, and community based, holistic, collaborative and sustainable.
Job Title: – Warden
Reporting to: – Head of Warden
Main Purpose:
The Warden ensures that the Lighthouse provides a safe, nurturing, and welcoming temporary home for children, with responsibility for overall supervision during nighttime and weekends.
Duties & Responsibilities
Child Care & Supervision
-
- Provide a balanced approach of love, discipline, and care.
- Treat all children equally and fairly.
- Conduct regular night checks (every 2 hours) to ensure safety.
- Administer prescribed medication when necessary.
- Support children in maintaining personal hygiene and belongings.
Behavior & Safeguarding
-
- Abide by the Hope for Justice Child Safeguarding Policy.
- Implement non-violent discipline and behavior management.
- Report serious sickness or discipline issues to project staff.
Training & Collaboration
-
- Provide weekly Child Wellbeing training in consultation with the Social Worker and DSO (Designated safeguarding officer).
Liaise with project staff as needed.
About You
Experience & Education
- Formal education is not required; however, training in childcare, teaching experience, first aid certification, sports involvement, and basic financial literacy are advantageous.
- Previous experience caring for children is essential; experience working with street children is preferred and advantageous.
